Stretch's…Great Italian Restaurant in Livingston, NJ
If you are looking for Great Italian food…try Stretch’s across from Livingston Center. We eat there at least three times a month.
We can always count on good service, large portions and reasonable prices. The kids have loved it since they were little (they are in high school now.)
Stretch’s got it’s start from Belmont Tavern in Bloomfield, NJ…which has been around forever!!! I recently found a recipe for their famous Chicken Savoy. I never made it. Didn’t need to…we just go to Stretch’s for our favorite dish.
I digress…the son of the owner of Belmont Tavern opened up Stretch’s in Livingston, NJ. His journey is chronicled on a wall of the restaurant. You can’t miss it underneath one of the two tv’s. It is quite an amusing pictorial of his journey “uptown.”
Our usual order consists of Stretch’s Salad (mozzarella, roasted peppers, black olives, red onions, tomatoes, (extra) lettuce, and balsamic vinegar), Salmon over Spinach, Chicken Savoy (on the bone), Zuppa Di Clams (over linguine) and Chicken Murphy (on the bone, potatoes, peppers-mixed hot & sweet, onions & mushrooms.)
However, there are nights when Stretch’s Special Cheese Pasta (cavatelli with pot cheese), Chicken Crisp on the Bone (with Italian Fried Potatoes), and Steak or Pork Giambotta (sliced steak with potatoes, peppers, onions & mushrooms) are a must.
Be sure to bring your favorite wine as Stretch’s is a BYO.
You can find Stretch’s at 18 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ 973.615.3101
Opened Tuesday-Sunday
